I remember once cause we were a group of guys (and I paid something like 50 Hk for the drink and avoided buying any girl drinks at 200) and another time was because the doorman recognised me (again, paid normal price). I've also been chased away by mamasans just for peeking in the curtains, so you need to be calm (and preferably) sober before diving into any decisions. Drunk in Escape and you're out a few thousand. Drunk in a curtain bar can get you in trouble. A friend of mine in Tokyo flexed his credit card at a strip club there and just got lap dances. He was pissed as a fart, fell for a girl and ordered dances all nice. Work up the next day with something like 1,000 dollar Visa bill (paid).
