Realize my earlier post was a bit all over the place. The points I was trying to make were:
1) the forum being open and figuring prominently in search results probably helps get new members, which is a step in the right direction. Without this we may soon not have the critical mass required and may just die out
2) we do not have enough incentives for those new visitors to register or when they do register for them to contribute. The current karma based membership levels and the privileges for each levels may need a rejig? Suggestions I made in the last post were my random thoughts on what could be done
3) pt 1, could expose some of our contributing members to some additional risk, but that can be minimised with some precautions
Between my idea was not to prevent newbies from replying to threads for a set time, but to prevent them from viewing the thread for a set amount of time. That gives them access to the reports but the SP may not be available anymore in many cases, so they have an incentive to climb up the ranks.
PS: This is not my thread, but maybe a RA20 is appropriate since we are discussing newbies? | |

Nah... if newbies see this, they'll finally understand what it's all about. |
