Long version:
Sunday was a weird day.
At first, there was a typhoon. The day before, the news was that a stormy thing was on its way, and it might or might not be a typhoon. More likely not. Then, when I woke up, typhoon signal number 8! But it was not even raining outside. Streets were deserted, except for a few unsuspecting tourists, wondering where everyone had gone.
It must have been the most unnecessary typhoon day in history. I walked to IFC alone and watched “Dunkirk”. Two hours later, I climbed out from the cinema, half deaf, emotionally exhausted and feeling depressed.
That was my mood when I texted Kama, for the first time in more than two months, to book a massage. Joy replied, “How are you?” “Shell shocked,” I wrote.
Penny is a tall girl with an elegant face. With clothes on, she looks rather like an OL on the streets in Central. There is a girl like her in every office building in the world, a girl who makes people say “I wish this girl works on my floor”. Seeing her at Kama was therefore a strange experience, as if a local OL woke up one morning and found herself in someone’s wet dream. But then Kama is a place decorated with a Christmas tree in summer; so weirder things do exist.
Without clothes, Penny has a full body and, unexpectedly, a long pair of legs, which were something nice to wrap around your body with in a bathtub. To a guy who hasn't touched a woman for months, holding a naked Penny in the bath is a life-reaffirming experience. We then proceeded to tell each other our favourite restaurants in Hong Kong, and were surprised to find three overlaps. This was amazing, because while Amber and Butcher Club are obvious choices, the third one (Sake Beya Musu) is definitely a hidden gem.
My recovery from Christopher Nolan’s terrifying movie was complete when, later in Kama’s signature huge bed, I explored the landscape of Penny’s body. Using her belly as a canvas, I drew a map of France and traced the retreat route of the British expeditionary force in 1940. As I was retreating north to her breasts, I thought to myself: Why am I so lonely? Isn’t happiness a very simple thing?
Happiness is fooling around with an intelligent and cultural young woman in a lazy Sunday afternoon, no rush, no dodgy negotiation for tips, no nosey questions about whether you are married or not. Happiness is when you can play with Penny’s hair and jokingly compare Kama with the red room in “Twin Peaks”. Happiness is she totally got the joke.
I love Kama Spa. To me it is a truly unique place. In the pre-Kama era, massage parlours in Hong Kong are all dodgy places with flashy LED signs, and the girls were under-educated and boring. Kama is classy, and Penny embodies everything Kama represents. She is bilingual (we spoke in English because my Putonghua Chinese is nonexistent), well-travelled, and very very funny. On a massage table, her GFE is so off the chart that the meter catches fire. Outside the VIP room, outside Kama, she can easily be someone you can take to a ball and impress everyone with.
Other people might just want to buy (cheaply) a sexy body for a couple of hours to play with; I respect their choice. But to me Kama is the only place where I can get a quality massage, an erotic experience, AND to have a decent conversation. I never felt dirty and cheap after visiting, instead I felt enriched and inspired. Other places are like Japanese AV on your phone; Kama is like watching “Fifty shades of grey” on IMAX (with champagne).
On my way out, I saw many young pretty girls in the reception area. Not having been there for a while, I could only recognize the beautiful Babe. I do not understand why some people said the quality of Kama has dropped. I, for one, found the latest crop of girls the best I have ever seen at Kama. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been out for a long while?
Joy texted me afterward. “How was it?” “Kama has restored my faith in humanity,” I answered. The two whatsapp ticks changed from grey to blue. Message delivered. I love you.
Sunday was a weird day. One thing led to another, which then led to another. In the end of the day, I was slightly in love. With Penny, with Kama and with life itself. Maybe it’s time to evacuate from my personal Dunkirk too. Joy told me Penny is leaving Hong Kong soon but will definitely return. I got a suspicion that the next time she’s here; it won't be so easy to book her. It’s good, for once, to have something to look forward to. | |
