Well there have been some interesting replies thats for sure. Sorry I've been silent for a few days. Been travelling and hate typing on the phone so waited until the laptop was back in action. I need to learn how to use the voice-to-text facility on my phone. Although could get some funny looks in the airport if I was dictating a message for this forum out load.

I asked because in mainland China normal folk in their own homes almost never go barefoot. They have hard plastic flipflops to wear in the shower. When they are in hotels they are the same. Don't like to walk on the carpets or in the shower barefoot. In the States and in Europe we don't have this hang up but then we have higher hygiene standards in general so I was just wondering what its like in Hong Kong 141 apartments. Is it a case of when in Rome.....
