Smile and wave boys, smile and wave

It's only been necessary for me when a woman has opened up her door without me knocking. In those cases I smile and shake my head, usually whilst walking away. I've never had the situation where I've knocked on a door and been so disappointed with what I've seen that I've wanted to say no. Perhaps I should; I believe local mongerers are much happier to shop around.

As long as you are polite or respectful (ie not pulling a face and going 'Eurrrggghh!' ) then I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

If you're still browsing, I would assume the woman won't mind, as long as you don't keep ringing her bell and turning her down. But put yourself in her shoes; if you ring the bell, have a quick word with her, leave and then come back a few minutes later, aren't you saying to her that you're settling for her because you couldn't find anyone better? I don't think she's going to feel like giving fantastic service in that case.
