To compare his figure and that provided in your link, we should also know how many pornstars there are (approximately). According to that link you provided, roughly 10 people in 100,000 kill themselves. If there are 100,000 pornstars, then that figure of 26 is not too high. If the number of porn stars killing themselves is low (comparatively), it could be argued that they are less inclined to commit suicide. However, if the figure is high, it would be unfair to blame the porn industry for that. Without having access to the psychological profile of the 26 porn stars who committed suicide, we don't know whether they had suicidal thoughts prior to joining the industry. The same argument can be applied to the drug overdose figure. Does the industry attract people who are already addicts? If it does, then the figure is expected to be much higher. | |
