Thats mother nature at her worst. I live here and what happened was this:
1. There was nearly a week to prepare and the news was indeed already alarming everyone including govt agencies to leave coastal areas, prepare, and evacuate.
2. People listened and Govt did do its job.
3. However it is the first time this magnitude directly hit landfall here so people had no idea what to expect
4. They expected strong winds and some coastal waves as what ALWAYS happens during typhoons.
5. But the immense speed of the wind literally threw the water in the ocean to the land creating some sort of a tsunami
6. Lots of people drowned just like the indonesia-thailand incident. However in this case, it wasnt a beach resort or a line of beaches, but the city itself. = livelihood / food all wiped out
Thank you to all governments for helping and the Philippines will always help even in trying times; even Hong Kong of course. | |
