I was in Shanghai several years ago and was approached many times by attractive young girls who professed to be
'students' who wanted a conversation to improve their English. The scam then was they would invite you
to a friends tea room for a 'traditional tea ceremony' and of course the same extortion scenario would take place.
Fortunately for me I had done my research in advance and avoided falling into this trap.
My Tip before going to somewhere new read local Expats blogs.I have to thank ShanghaiExpats for saving my arse.
'You dodged the bullet Dooper' Well done.
