It's an important part of the interaction for me. So much so that if the girl doesn't allow it, it's harder for me to complete. Everybody's different though.
In terms of "problems", I'm not sure if you mean a problem reaction from the girl, or a problem like an STD.
If the former, I never ever have a problem with the girl, because I'm always respectful of her choices. I start with a peck, but linger with my lips near hers. If she's a DFK-er, she'll open her mouth and we're off to the races. If not, I can try another couple of slightly heavier kisses before giving up. Forcing my way forward is never an option for me.
If the latter (STD), then the answer is no, in over 5 years of doing this. However, it is clearly possible. This is not a medical advice forum (I've been warned before), so you'll need to do your own research about what's possible and what's not. But I haven't caught anything. I check at least annually, or more often if something happens, such as an accidental moment of bareback. So far, nothing. Not herpes. No sore throats, not even a cold.
But, without wanting to dispense medical advice, I do remember reading one thing that has stuck with me. Although the chance of catching something might be 1 in 100 or a million or some other number, every time someone catches something he catches it from a single exposure.
