This is all a very stimulating discussion to me as I:
1. Engage our favorite activity 2x weekly
2. Am happily married to an amazing girl and wear the ring 
3. As I sense from most of the brothers here, am possibly on the high side of the average age and perhaps with it having a bit more of the prosperity that comes with age and experience in your career
4. seem to find myself the subject of attention and low degree flirtation or other “expressions of interest” as I term them by local civie woman who are younger than me where I see them repeatedly (e.g. staff in my gym, employees of tenants on the same floor of my office building, shops I frequent) 
I agree with the premise that girls are attracted to married men. However as I am a bit thick in such things which other people can see readily can someone please explain to me why ? OK, I understand married men:
1. Generally more stable, and mature, and sophisticated than singles (unless of course the single man was previously married), both in life generally and when it comes to dealing with women
2. Not a loser or creepy or weirdo guy as he had to do something right to get married and stay married.
3. Has some type of regular income or wealth so he can support the wife and perhaps children.
All girls like all these things as its part of their DNA to seek out a mate and provider and of course a married man can be an indicator for the above mentioned things and some chicks would like. They go where there are men with these qualities.
However, the married men are (usually) not available, as they are married. This should be obvious. In most cases all the qualities that make such men attractive to the single civies are the qualities that keep the man married: faithfulness, integrity, ability to provide. Unless they can tempt the man away, they will never get him.  Perhaps the flirting is a projection of this, that they think they can catch his eye, just like they might a younger single guy closer to his age?
