I see what you're thinking and the parallels you see now - but I really don't think that mongering as an Industry in China is going to evolve in the same direction as in LOS.
I really cannot see that the Powers-that-be here is EVER going to allow China to be known as a sex destination - officially, unofficially, acknowledged as, or even being hinted at as such. No way, not as xenophobic and full of Nationalistic Pride that just about all strata of Chinese society is.
Besides which - how much does the water trade - ESPECIALLY THE LOWER PRICED OPTIONS - bring in as tax, direct investments, employment etc? Like I said, The guys who runs the country KNOW that they're not going to be able to ever eradicate prostitution totally and that their own populace do need/will demand this - but they also know that the best way to handle such proclivities is to channel such enterprise towards the aims and the greater good of the country. i.e Upgrading, eliminating other criminality from encroaching...and TAXING them!!
And please do remember that even with all this talk about China being so entrepreneurial, it still remains a PLANNED ECONOMY; No way that they're gonna allow ANY of their Mr. Wong's or Chan's to run rampant and do whatever the Mr. Somthai's of Thailand gets up to!!!
Nah....no WAY that China will ever become a sex destination - and in fact, I can ALREADY see the direction the water trade is headed towards with all that's been happening these days - cleansing of many parts i.e. zhuhai, Shatsui, Houjie, Guangzhou, the upgrading - and MASSIVE spending - of all such water trade activities/facilities, and just recently the strike hard campaign in Chang Ping - the place that's apparently been designated for such trade.
Now... on the "evolution" of the gals engaged in the trade - well...I can see where our nice, quite innocent, relatively less mercenary Chinese WG's would/could develop into some of the man-eating Piranhas that's endemic in Thailand, PI and other sex-destination countries. But that's another topic altogether!!
