I've gotten great distance with female friends winging for me at both strip clubs & reg. bars.
Wow, the USA is more open than I thought, you have female friends that help you pick up in strip clubs!?

I think most people feel uncomfortable going to certain public places alone, ie cinema, theatre, bars, clubs, restaurants, concerts, etc because they don't want to be perceived as being lonely, a freak, or a loser. I was scared too when I was younger, but learned to get over it by convincing myself for the following reasons...
1) I will be missing out on some experiences now if I had to wait until I found someone to go with me. It may be forever to find someone who has similar interests in tht activity, by then it may be too late. Best to enjoy the now than to regret it later on.
2) I will just adopt the attitude I am on a biz trip abroad and want to experience this new city. I would hate to be like some ppl who go to only 2 places, their clients' offices and hotel when on a biz trip. Ppl are too scared to go out alone. Must explore and experience.
3) Most importantly for this forum, I may get lucky and get an ons/shag with a bird who is usually not mcot but I won't have any witnesses (friends/buds by my side) to tease me forever on my bad taste of girls. 
Going or not going with a friend(s) is really dependent on whether I know the place/area or not. If going to China, it is best to go with at least a buddy for safety reasons. But in HK, it is so safe here and I can speak the lingo, so there is really no need to go with a group or buddy.
