Yeah, that's life aint it?? There is rarely one "right" answer to such personal matters.
I used to be firmly in the "go chase civvies first" camp, like SEAj. But I don't disagree with a thing that Jack said either. Overcoming your "first-time" nerves can definately help you with your chase for civvies and a "real" girlfriend.
But don't get caught up in this easy-way-out world to soon. And that can be tough. Why face rejection, strike-outs, a broken heart, when getting laid is as easy as the nearest Walkup-Building, right? Well, because there is sooo much to being with a woman, in a relationship, then just getting some pussy.
I was young when I first punted too -- but I was also already in a serious live-together relationship (with a gal who eventually became my wife). I knew the difference and valued both options for overlapping but different reasons. It took me 3 months to win her over, to get that first date..., but it was worth the effort. At my worst times, my lowest moments in life, I always knew there was one person who would stand beside me, or indeed hold me up if that's what I needed. A WG won't be happy eating nothing but noodles for 6 months cause you've quit your job to go back to school (or whatever).
So, my advice (for what it's worth). Go pop your cherry. But remember it is a fantasy-land. You need to work on chasing girlfriends too..., and remember that they are worth the chase.
