Gotta appreciate this thread and your efforts, SEAj, but all these simultaneous discussions makes it odd at times.
Anyway, back to that topic of "ice-breakers" when entering a room. You are right that my bargirls are a different scene - the ice-breaking is done long before you hit a room so things flow pretty naturally once that door closes. GFE is highly elevated as a result.
But with Walkups it IS different. Ya have mere minutes to try to set a positive, relaxed mood. Trickier. I like to use Chyloryform. Keeps 'em calm.
(Haha. Joking).
Seriously, I find humor works better than anything, but the language barrier can make it doubly challenging. A "cat-whistle" seems to work if timed right. Usually brings a smile. I've turned tunes on my phone and danced around a bit wearing a goofy grin (that worked well - she laughed like hell at me, but then joined me. Turned a somewhat tense room into a fun time). And usually, I can spot something in the room that can be an instant and personal topic (a stuffed animal, her music collection or DVD lying around, a picture, etc.). Or her hometown --- chances are I know it and maybe have been there -- so an super easy way to just start engaging in a chat.
But... Ya really can't force it nor expect much in your first visit with a walkup. Hopefully it will flow easily and comfortably, and if so, expect a much more GFE'y session the second time you visit. | |
