The Chinese are quite ingenious in coming up with Chinese versions of apps and many of these apps are not able to get clearance from the Apple people. So the only solution is to jailbreak the phone whether you have a credit card or not. And I noticed many of the iPhone users don't really care about the apps offered in Apple Appstore as many of it charges a fee. Mainlanders will always try to find something free to load onto their phones for use.
I remember one of my friend got an unlocked iPhone via a friend (which I think might have been a smuggled merchandise) and when he got the phone, it was already loaded with many apps...in the end, he deleted everything which does not come with the phone originally and re-install the phone from scratch.
Great idea on info regarding unlocking... Jack, do you have any info? I am too lazy to try to search from the internet...
