I've had WGs react the same way, in fact I would even go as far as saying Mongolian's (deep down) don't like China.
I was in a taxi last year with a friend of mine + my WG (Mongolian) + his WG (Chinese). I was in the back between the 2 WGs and he was sat in the front.
Some how the discussion turned to where they were from and the PRC girl said something about China being stronger, to which the MGal immediately reacted that China was scared of Mongolia which is why the built the wall, to which the PRC girl replied that since both sides of the wall belong to China there was no way they were afraid of anyone and on and on in an English that was sufficient to communicate. As they got madder and madder with each other the English deteriorated to a point where they communicated more by tone LOL.
In the end we had to take separate elevators up to our rooms.
Amazing.
I can also concur that MGals I have met seem to have a closer affinity with Russians. Most MGals I know speak Russian well (apparently) and several have told me that they feel positively about Russians because they have been "good to Mongolia" over the years. This feeling seems passed down by their parents.
My personal desire for MGals stems from the fact I like their faces, eyes especially. I like their often wicked sexy sense of humour and good command of English. I don't appreciate the fact they can be a little racist at times but hey... I'm just one guy and can't change the world on my own LOL
EDIT: I just remembered what started the fight LOL. The PRC girl said to the MGal "are you Korean?" it went south from there. I don't think Mongolians hate Koreans but this is what started their race discussion.
