I agree and I've never been robbed by a wg. Spent tons of money on girlie drinks and gotten hammered plenty of times in wc. Never worried about getting mugged or in a fight that could easily happen in the west in a similar sized city.
Only problem I've had was at one of the curtain bars. I knew they were rip-off joints at the time but got lured in when too drunk at like 5am in the morning. I actually ordered a coffee and she led me to the "vip" area where some really hot filipinos started working on me. I have no idea how it happened but after awhile mama came with a credit card bill and I had not even given them my wallet, one of the chicks must have taken it from my pocket!! Ridiculous amount of 12 000hkd and she showed a whole tray of shots she said I ordered. I was in a haze and tried to argue and that is when a couple of guys appeared forcing me to sign. For some reason I cannot remember they wanted to follow me to the ATM. But in the street I figured I had it and told them to get lost. It got verbal and then a scuffle and I ran across the road and they did not follow. Nasty experience.
Also, when I checked my card the next day it was maxed out. They'd probably swiped it a couple of time and had plenty of time to forge my signature.
After that I figured it is better to leave the valuables at home.....
My guess is that had my buddy gone home with an asian wg his stuff might have been there the next day. Prejudice?
