As to walkups in Central/Wan chai or TST this is virtually impossible.  I would have zero fear of this.  All of these places are well traveled and have a lot of girls working in them.  A bad ass couldn't run any sort of a scam/robbery and get away with it.  It's nowhere near like meeting a girl in a no-tell motel in the U.S. and risking getting cornered by the girl's bad-ass pimp.  It's just not even the same scene.

Others can fill you in on places further afield, and perhaps less safe.  But for me (as just a visitor to HK) I stick with the mainstream venues and feel safer in HK than anywhere else in the world.
