I guess its gonna be another "must-go-to" destination in Australia!! Good on 'em!
As far as your pctures are concerned - I don't THINK they're too big. I'm not sure as I usually see the KB's of JPG pictures accompanying such - and yours don't have that. Anyway, it appears fast and does NOT make the page flicker - so I GUESS its small enough!
And for those wanting to find out how to make your pictures come up on this forum BEST - and not irritate others (as over-sized pictures makes the page ficker like crazy whilst the Discuz engine force downsize the) go to SkinnyForum's excellent post on this subject:
