Likely Hockey will overtake the NBA on this list, the NBA will lose between $350 - 400 million this year coming of $200 million losses in the previous 2 years. It's promoted in China very well because of Yao, and people in China have bought into that, relatively small size playing arena helps in China, as does lack of equipment required. However in the US it isn't as relevant as it was in the Jordon days.
In terms of the sports on this list, Major League Baseball is the overwhelming leader with more than 73 million fans. Of course in baseball they play 162 games in 180 days... however an average attendance of 30,000+ given that many games all of which are on TV is amazing and something no other sport could duplicate. The NFL for example averages 68,000 fans per game, however each team plays only 8 home games per year. I'm not a huge Hockey fan but it's a great sport to watch live. I have very little interest in the NBA, a lot of the players are morons and the concept of scoring a goal and then giving the ball back artificially attempts to keep games close and has way too much impact because of the small size of the court. A 6'6" Bro put's his arms up and he's 9'6". He jumps 6" off the ground and puts a ball in a stationary hoop from POINT BLANK RANGE... so what???
Hoping the Rangers win the Stanley Cup!
