Hong Kong Police
I just wrote the following on Captaincaveman's post - and thought it appropriate to also post such here, as I really do think that the Police in Hong Kong are exemplary

Talking about ID cards and being carded - I'd like to add that HK Police are - to me anyways - exemplary in the way they handle these ID card checks. And in most other matters too.
One night many years ago, when I regularly got off work at 2 or 3 in the morning, I was running out of an alley (which is how you need to get out of my building after-hours) to make it to the old Hilton Hotel car park, before my parking goes off to another hour of charges.
Well, I practically ran into a policeman and he told me to stop and to let him see my ID card. Not even thinking of anything, I just told him - "I'm catching my parking before I have to pay for another hour, come-on, run with me and I'll show you!"
Well, here was this young policeman in his police boots jogging alongside me - all the way from Pedder street all the way to close to Ice House Street! And I mean, this young guy was breathlessly fumbling with getting his torch light, trying to focus his eyes to read my card whilst writing some details in his little notebook - and he even then thanked me and wished me luck making the hour, afterwards!!
Can you imagine what would happen if I did the same thing in New York, or London or Bangkok or for that matter - any other parts of the world?
Yes, I AM so glad I live in Hong Kong and YES, I do think that the Hong Kong Police is indeed Asia's (even the world's) FINEST!
