Thanks everyone for the info regarding the dress codes in Wanchai bars/clubs. These forum boards has been such an excellent source of information - I've been reading posts and FAQs on this board for the past 2 months in preparation for only a 10 day trip LOL. I feel like I've been to Hong Kong already (this will be my first trip). This place is definitely the Library of Congress for mongering in HK. The wealth of information available here really helps me utilize what little bit of time I have in HK.
A few years back I went to Shanghai for a business trip. Did no research about mongering beforehand, but intended to attempt to meet a few WG's while there. How hard could it possibly be to wing it? I went to a massage parlor near my hotel (touristy area) and upon my attempts to solicit extra services, the masseuse stared me down like I'm some sort of "ham sup low". Well to be fair - I guess I am a "ham sup low" in this case. So after the akward stares she gave me, I played it off as a joke and left quickly after 5 more minutes of massage. Stubborn and undeterred, I went to a 2nd massage place that same night also requesting some extra services.......and was shown the door to leave shortly after. While walking back to my hotel - I get solicited by this shady thick chinese guy, with what appears to be a giant knife scar on his right cheek, to come with him to a location that has some hot ladies action. As enticing as his business slogan was - "fancy pussy la...", I just got a bad vibe from him and was not interested in getting robbed that night. So wraps up my horrific attempts at mongering a few years back in the mainland.
This time...this time, it will be different! I have done my proper research and even freaking packed extra sets of clubbing appropiate clothes and GPS bookmarked sauna/walkup locations in my IPad (offmaps). I am determined not to fail this time!
