Seems the consensus is that neither China nor HK is inherently racist against (Western) foreigners, however in the Mainland there are 2 issues at play, an underlying anti Japanese sentiment (to at least "some extent") and an eagerness to accept generalisations. I think the generalising and stereotyping part is true of every country... Looking back at Bro Geoduck's post on post #9 he seems pretty accurate to what most people feel.
