I think the humor escapes people. Okay let me clarify, we all know that Hong Kong yearly gets tons of American soldiers showing up,
meeting up having sex WG, have fun, then go home. Dumping millions dollars into Hong Kong's economy.
Taiwan does not have to provide comfort women, but it's a definite plus for their local economy if women volunteer to work as WG. We all know prostitution exists in virtually every country, from an economic point of view, making money on American soldiers is probably common, and was done during the Roman times where romans soldiers had sex all the time.
So if all these troops just have to be there, prostitution regardless
of laws and circumstances will always be in any country. It's just makes more economic sense to allow the prostitutes to operate legally, like Hong Kong, and make alot of money like Hong Kong.
Since prostitution is underground in Taiwan, it's not regulated enough to do health checks for STD's, ensure regular hours, and
slavery is not occuring. Once it's legal it's will be possible ensure safer sex by control the spread of STD's.
Since I'm assuming less Taiwanese girls want to be prostitutes
because it's illegal, the supply for prostitutes will be lower,
therefore price will be higher if the demand is the same.
So once they legalize it, more girls may want to enter the job,
or keep being prostitutes increasing supply, therefore decreasing the price. If the price has always been too high, it
would then be legal for girls from other countries to come
to Taiwan, and meet the demand curve for sex, and
lower prices in the process. | |
