I think the acceptance points are less tangible than the karma points. Most people want the karma points to increase their RA. Therefore, the acceptance points don't appear to have a direct impact on what you can or cannot do on this forum. The most obvious thing that acceptance does IMO, is that if I see someone with a high points, then it probably means that forum members value their posts.
I guess the confusing part potentially is everyone has their own standard as to when they should award karma or acceptance points, and in some cases both. Because of its subjective nature, inconsistent application and it's less obvious impact compared to karma points, acceptance points to many don't seem to have a big impact. | |
