No, its quite typical, I travelled by motorbike alone from London to Seoul to Japan.
I met quite a few other bikers who travelled across Russia on motorbikes and they had similar experiences, this wasn't a WG it was a normal girl who looked small and cute.
H who I met in Ulan Ude had an experience similar to mine not with a WG a seemingly normal girl. H was a fat truck driver who was well built.
Tobias 'wanderlust' G who I met in Ulan Bator had the same thing happen to him as well. Tobias was a pussy though, he was pretty small smaller than me in build. (he was a passenger on the transiberia).
Henrik in Vladivostok who was by no means a small guy he was huge 2 heads taller than me and bulk like a brick shit house, was 'shown' around the city by a girl for an afternoon, he looked really badly hurt the morning after we (as in the three biker teams I was solo) thought he'd been mugged.
Languages isn't the issue its key words that you need to learn, as said Davai Malenka means lets go and have a little ....
Piva = Beer
Vodka = vodka
Samogan = whisy
Sechs = sex
pestrokya = is interchangable with lets go talk
Robota = means work, but when said with a woman can mean lets get buzzeh in the sack.
The transiberian train is boring btw, there is NO scenery to speak of just vast emptiness it drove me nuts on my bike and I could stop camp and meet people you can't do jack on a train!. A better way is to use the local minibuses, you can get ANYWHERE in russian on them.
Or to to Vladivostok, take a minibus to Vanino and get lifts, there are tons of Russians who import cars from Japan and korea and drive across to Moscow, though the Amur highway is the 2nd most dangerous road in the world! | |
