Advice on threat/scam

I'm not sure if this is the right section but would appreciate some advice.

I am living in China currently. Last night, I went on QQ found someone nearby and sent a message. Gave them a call and they asked for my address which I gave them. I'm still not entirely familiar with the workings of China yet. So the agent on the other side of the call said I have to sent money to him through bank transfer and then the girl will be sent to my home. I forward him the money and called. He then said that I have to forward him additional money for some BS and I declined and said forget about it. He then got threatened me that if I don't send him the money he will come to my address to harm me. Now, I know I was stupid for agreeing to the transfer and will refrain from using my home address in the future as well. So, my main question is if I should take the threat seriously or just consider it as another scam tactic. How should I approach this? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

In the future, give the general neighborhood and meet them at the entrance. You're just another schmook who can get milked. If you pay them, they're only going to try to extort you more. Ignore them, thousands of other marks that they can target. No point contacting the police because it just becomes a "My drug dealer ripped me off" scenario

Most of these guys are paper tigers.  About 15 years ago, in Tianjin, a wannabe thug tried to intimidate a buddy and I at a KTV.

He came in the room with 3 other guys, demanded thousands of RMB and his guys stood around us to try to scare us. My buddy, who wasnt particularly big, stood up as if nervous and reaching for his wallet.  He head butted the goon closest to him and must have hit a lucky shot breaking his nose. Blood gushed out everywhere. The others totally panicked gathered up the bleeding goon and scurried out.  We left also not wanting to find out if more were on the way.

I think most people never challenge these guys. When challenged or ignored, they simply move on to easier targets.  They aren't real thugs. They aren't like Russian mobsters or US street gangsters. Just losers trying to take the mickey out of an easy mark.
