Mid Life Crisis

As I hit my mid 40's I think I'm going thru the stereotypical path that most males go thru. As one of my threads can attest to http://forum.sex141.com/eforum/v ... &extra=page%3D1 I haven't gone out and bought a convertible Miata yet . I have tried bungee jumped, jumped out of a plane, learned to scuba dive and travelled extensively the last 5 years. In couple of months I hope do this http://www.sharkdiver.com/home. I guess it's the beginning of my mid life crisis.

My question to the bros on here is anyone going thru the same thing and what is on their to do list.

By the way I see myself more as a guy drive a Jeep Rubicon or a Harley

If a mid-life crisis means having more fun, then bring it on!

Kind of like the kid who sees the commercials and wants to buy tampons so that they can go skiing, ride horses...

Mid life crisis is nothing more than trying to recapture your youth by doing things you enjoyed doing when you were young, (before work, home, wife, kids and other responsibilities crept in), before  ya get to old to do them. Its more a rebirth than a crisis. Its a crisis for those around you because they get jelous seeing ya having fun, driving hot cars and bangin young chicks. Fuk em.

I have personally witnessed a lot of real bad things happen because of this "mid-life crisis;" lives destroyed, careers up in flames, life changing injuries - and most tragically - families in tatters.

And unfortunately, the worse usually happens to individuals who had all their lives up to then, been pretty much pilars of society. So very hard working, so responsible and so conscientious in trying to  make his life and for those he loves, the best that it can be.  And the tragic thing is that this usually happens all so rapidly without those around him - or even himself - actually realizing what actually was happening.

It's as if the guy just woke up one morning and decided that he was going to do something different - but of course this "change" had been building up to a crescendo all along....but without anybody even realizing or recognizing it; not even himself.

So its very good that you yourself has realized what you are going through;  the next thing you must do - of course IMHO - is to actually take stock of where you are right now, find the GOOD things in what you've achieved, and build on those successes. Do not just decide to do something different - just for the sake of it being something you've never done before.  There's a reason why you had not done those things in the past - and those reasons still hold true whether yesterday, today or in the futurue. You know it yourself.

One mistake, two, yeah OK as things ARE quite forgiving - but if you keep on testing your boundaries - you know sooner or later that you're gonna get caught and would only live to regret it afterwards.  That's NOT mid-life crisis - that's a death wish.

So my li'l heads up - yeah - mid life crisis - don't let it destroy you, let it be the point where you take stock of where you are now at, build on your past achivements and successes and start afresh to achieve more successes. You'll look back and KNOW that you did well in life.

Sorry - whilst it may be a statement that many have expressed - it is nonetheles NOT accurate.

For as many as those who HAD worked and accomplished things in their lives and probably thought what you said, there are I am very sure, just as many on their death bed who are filled with regrets.

Those whose lives HAD not been one of accomplishments borne out of working fastidiously, those whose lackadaisical approach to their jobs had brought disaster to those nearest and dearest to him etc. I'd say they would be saying - "Damn, I wish that I had made better use of the facilites God had given me, all that time to do so, instead of ending my life as a failure" - or something to that nature.

IMHO one would be able to state what you suggest saying ONLY if he had worked PROPERLY in his lifetime.

Oh WOW!

I certainly hope that that wasn't meant to be a trolling type of comment.

And BTW - you may want to consolidate posts - especially one-liners.
And especially here in the veggie cafe as you ain't gonna accrue posting credits here anyway.

Just a li'l heads up.

How do you classifly mid life crisis.....

What actually is mid life crisis....

Any bros want to shed some light ....

Does everyone go through this phrase....

What are the symptoms...

Do you start losing your mind....

Is it the time when you stop giving a fuck about everything....

Do you start losing your memory.....

Is it time to fuck everything off and start living your life to the full....

SORRY BROS BUT RICO IS JUST IN A FUNNY MOOD AT THE MOMENT....

Again an inappropriate homily?

Yes, there are those who are going to be envious etc - but its those nearest and dearest who should count more when seeing a guy going through his mid-life crisis.

These close friends and family are NOT going to be jealous etc - they'd just be concerned and worried when they see someone dear to them going on a path which may be self-destructive. These are the people a guy needs around him to steer him back to what life should be.

For most mid-life crisis starts with the notion of - "What the hell am I doing with my life?  How come all that I've achieved now means nothing to me? How come I feel empty after doing all that I can?  There MUST be more to life than THIS"

Well to all out there who may be asking those questions - the answer is - You ARE doing well with your life, all that you've achieved does mean a lot, not only to yourself but more important for those you care about, and you're feeling empty coz those around you have not shared enough in your struggles, your feelings of success when overcoming those - and thus its time for you to now actually share those struggles and successes with them"

Like I said, OK - a few nonsense, a few stupid indulgences - but NO - do NOT then make this supposed mid life crisis into then indulging in irrational, wasteful and dangerous undertakings. Don't make it into a death wish.

Just IMHO

The only guys who will be envious are those who either got married young (20s to mid30s) and pulled themselves out of the dating market or those who always had difficulty getting chicks.

Everyone else who had had experience with those young kittens or find it easy to meet women would be concerned about their buddy.

So to inoculate yourself to getting a mid-life crisis, (ideally before marriage) I suggest you go out and date some really young chicks just to see what the experience is like with a big age-gap difference and meet more girls (attractive and plain) just to improve your own charm.

Once you got that 'charm', you will be receiving looks from other chicks to the day you die and those 'looks' will serve to remind you that 'you still got it' and in return keep you emotionally and psychologically 'young'.

funny, I believe I am approaching mid-life crisis in the last few years.  Perhaps I have something to prove or turning back time, I put all that energy into running & various athletic sports.  Oddly, I have a distain for running yet I keep on running.....u name it, 5k, 10k, half marathons, marathons, etc.  Now after 20lbs less, I believe I am getting close to my peak athletic shape.  My energy level is high as its ever been Whatever I am doing appears to working as rather few young random 20 yr olds & 30 yr old hotties have approached me as of late

Trying not to boast about myself, like anything else...just channel your energy well & I am confident good things will come.  The way my outlook is, when you believe you have a pile of lemons, I always try to make lemonade out of it Once you have good energy & a positive outlook, people are VERY naturally drawn to you.....oh do i have stories!

As for OP, I think its great you are tackling new things.  The way I see it, its just tackling onto new things & have a new chapter of your endeavors.  I believe I did a few on your list already....bungee, parachuting, scuba (fully certified in deep water!), etc......not shark diving but that is intriging too!

We've all heard about the mid-life crisis gone bad, but as I watch everyone around me, in front of me and behind me get up and over the 40 year old mark, I almost NEVER see the stereotypical crash-and-burn.  I've seen a few divorces, but those were all about relationships burning out, not lives.

Mostly what I experienced, and what I see in others is more of Sirtiger's side of things: guys working harder, sweating harder and playing harder, and that's perfectly natural.  We get older and it's time to challenge ourselves even more: physically and mentally.  Run a little further, jump out of that plane, do a back-to-back double session with two lovely WGs when you felt like only doing one

Seems to me like the old mid-life crisis crash-and-burn is more of a myth; a convenience for movie scripts, than it is a reality.  The rest of us in the real world are accepting the challenge of age and charging in head first!

But do wear a helmet when you get that Harley . . .

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.
