Frist time to HK; a question about getting around...

I'm coming to HK in a couple weeks and it's my first time.
I will stay at a TST hotel, close to the harbour,
and I plan to try out some HGs in TST.
What's the best way to get around to the girls' hotels?
Taxi, subway, walking, or should I try to get the girls to my hotel (Of course, I will pay for the fare)?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

TST hotels are all within distance.  Only use a taxi if you can't figure out where the hotel is.

I think its best to have them come to your hotel but thats not always possible. So if you have to go to thier hotel its better to walk. Ask your hotel guy how to get there if you use a taxi with traffic it will probably take you longer

if you're too close to the harbour in TST, the walk may be a bit long, but the weather should be pleasant in HK now.

get the hotel name of the girl, go to google maps, type in where you are and where you're going, and it will give you detailed walking directions

In TST walk, other areas on Kowloon side MTR and MTR to island side. No need for taxi ever unless its after MTr shutsdown

Make sure you pick up a map from the airport when you land.  I had no problem finding my way around with the map in hand.  MTR will take you everywhere.  Just make sure you mark down the address of the places you want to hit up.

Yeah, all of the above. Depending on what hardware you have with you, either check google maps in your hotel before you head out, or on your phone as you go (PCCW has decent net access in places like the MTR station and even out of phone booths on the street - if you get lost you could easily check if you have a web-enabled phone.)

Coming from Oz, where the public transport is utterly useless, the MTR is a revelation - very efficient and user friendly. It will get you close to where-ever you need to go.

Of the many urban MTRs I have used, Hong Kong has got to be one of the most expansive and easiest to use. There is hardly an MTR station you could exit that would leave you more than 15 minutes from a wide selection of WGs. Armed with an MTR map and a city map, it is difficult to be, at worse, briefly disoriented when exiting an MTR station.

If you are coming to HK from North America, you have little to worry about.  For western people, HK area is so tiny, that it is almost beyond understanding.  you can walk pretty much all of the TST area in 15 minutes or less (and you are coming to town at a time when walking is okay, because it isn't too warm).  The MTR subways can get you around to most areas in a short period of time (TST is one MTR stop from Central, one from Jordan, and a couple of stops with a change of train to Causeway bay and such).

Even very late at night, when the subway is closed, there are still buses running on major routes, no big deal.  The only time I have needed a taxi in HK was coming back from Macau on an overnight ferry and needing to get back to TST.   Just hit the right lineup for the taxis going back to TST side of the tunnel, and it's all good.

You can take taxis around if you like, but the MTR will often get you close enough for it not to be an issue.

A important MTR tip is to try to identify which exit you want to go out of.  Because many roads are not easy to cross or have limited pedestrian cross walks, it is very important to get the right exit out of the station to get to where you are going.  Example, Jordan station:

http://www.mtr.com.hk/jplanner/images/maps/jor.pdf

Exit A and exit D are not really that far apart, but they are seperated by Nathan Road, and your view of where you are would be completely different (I recommend exit A for most of the interesting stuff... you can pretty much walk out and find Temple Sauna right there... ).

TST station has exits all over the place:

http://www.mtr.com.hk/jplanner/images/maps/tst.pdf

(note that exit B1 is only a few blocks away from exit D from the Jordan station, giving you an idea of just how small the area really is).    If it is raining, you can go from B1 all the way to L6 underground, which is pretty impressive.   Knowing where the exits are (and taking the time to check before you head outside) can really help save you time wandering around aimlessly outside.
