I have a big client visiting from the states, a midldle age white guy.  I have a feeling he messes around and I would love to help him discover the wonderful world of HK 141's (if he hasnt found out already)  How should I bring this up?  or should I not even ask

Even if he messes around you dont want to embarass him and compromise the deal. Best to let him take the lead. You can offer to show him around town and take it from there at a pace you and he are comfortable with.

I had a client with me in HK for a week. We were both somewhat "Coy" about our intentions until the last night when we went to some bars under the premise of having a "drink" even though they were OBVIOUSLY Mongering Bars (Neptune 2, Escape etc).

That opened up the conversation and very quickly we established we both had the same interests. We laughed at how we had wasted any entire week. Since then when we travel together we get straight down to business.

Alcohol, the right environment and some conversation like "if you want to build relationships and Guan Xi in Hong Kong and China, everyone tells me you really need to... you ever hear about that?"

Hey, I do go to Neptunes 2 for the cheap beer (and watch my bros pick up thais )  Years ago, one of the Neptunes was famous for its dj who spun really great club music.  So the place had a really mixed crowd of ppl, those for the music and dancing and those for the girls.

but you can hand him some rope by preparing "plasuibly deniable" hooks ... comments like "what happens in Hong Kong stays in Hong Kong" or "HK is wonderfully liberal" or talk about second wives in ancient Chinese culture etc. ... or just walk down the street to a nice restaurant, going past massage places / gogo bars / etc. making a comment about how popular the place is when the navy is in town "because it's all fully legal here" ...

Anyone with half a brain and a clear desire will take you up on it ...

... and if he just happens to be the shy and retiring type, you can always back off as talking "about" Hong Kong as distinct from grooming him.

I was out for dinner with clients in HK and afterwards I asked if they fancied moving on and grabbing a couple of drinks. They said they were tired and would have an early night but one of them was grinning like the proverbial Cheshire Cat. So we went our seperate ways, I had a couple of beers in The Dog House and headed off to Neptune. Low and behold there they were with their hands full. We all kind of looked as we had been caught with our hands in the till but then laughed - definitely broke the ice.

I usually ask clients what they would like to do for entertainment, what they like. Music bar, Jazz, Sports, Irish or some traditional Chinese entertainment and cover it with a sweeping statement like however you like to unwind I am sure HK has the place for you.

I am imagining myself bringing a client to 141 activities!! ahahaha this is HARDCORE.

I think massage parlor can be a good balance. But u need to be sure he is ready.

You may also try a strip club first, as a bridging step.

i'd say when you are kicking back or just finishing work, bring up something about HK girls... then ask have you ever tried a HKer wink wink. Then you will be able to tell how much he is interested and if its safe you can bring it up.

JW's suggestion of offering the array of choices is a good one, basically letting him take the lead.  However, I've missed a lot of fun in my life trying to be too much of a gentleman.  If you're spidey sense is telling you that he likes working girls then you choices are one of three:

1: Let him lead, tell him everything that's available in HK in a matter-of-fact way and let him feign innocence andchoose.

2: You take the lead.  Explain the HK business tradition, and that after dinner you're expected to seal the deal with a little trip to the spa.  Head to the best sauna you can think of, tell him he gets to pick his therapist and say, "make sure to tell her if you don't want the HJ/BJ/FS."  Like that he can enjoy himself and blame it all on you!

3:  Attempt to slowly bring up the subject, wasting an entire week of fun a la TonyToro.

Tough question as you don't want to look like slime or a perv if you guess incorrectly.  Like picking up girls, you will have to ask your wingmen to help out.   

I suggest you two go for some after work drinks at Wanchai.  Meet up with some of buddies (pre-arranged wingmen) at some of the more respectable bars with a live band such as Amazonia or Dusk to Dawn (places with mixed crowd of civie, tourists, and wgs).  After 2 or 3 rounds of drinking, you will had the opportunities to observe how your client looks at the girls in the crowd plus some of your buddies may have 'bonded' with him.  

By then you announce to your client that you have to go home early as you have to do a conference call with Europe or States (pick one) before it is too late.  Then on cue one of your friends has to speak up and invite your client for further drinking and would be willing to show him more of the nightlife.  If done right, your client would agree and go with your friends somewhere else.  

If anything happens or not, at least you will be in the clear.  Plus you won't look slimy for suggesting some action as it was your dirty friends who were trying to tempt him, not you.  

Of course you will have to go home so he doesn't run into you should he does do something.  The next day you can innocently ask him how did the night go and ask him if he wants to go for drinks again at night and if he wants to go back to the same place as last night.  Then you check out his facial expressions.  

You can also do KTV at some high end joint in east TST. More posh and good ambience to talk about business indirectly. But be ready to spill at least 10K for drinking and sitting fees only.

If you know some papas, just get em to send up some HGals and surprise your client. Based on expereince, my clients preferred this.
Straight forward and get down to the deed.

Less hassle to go out hunting and drinking.

how 'big' is your client ?   

just go to any wanchai bar and start commenting on the girls there ... see his reaction and then start talking about
guessing if the girl is pro or not ... that should get the ball rolling and you go on from there.

After that if he is important and you want to splash the cash, you take him to a night club

I think a LOT of guys on this site have stories they could (but won't) share ...

my own experience about "client entertainment" is very limited (completely green actually) but give how green I am, the fact that I already know just how easy it is for the conversation to slide across to action shows it's nowhere near as hard as you might be thinking.  

They want it, you just have to act like a "lightning conductor" and get out of their way while making it easy for them.  

Trust is of course key, so sharing a couple of stories that clearly show how you put "bros before hos" can help.

I think its best to get him drunk first at a ktv.

But at a normal KTV where the girls sit with you and maybe get alittle close. NO BJ/HJ/ETC.

Then feel it out as the night progresses.

you need to work towards a change of venue, since that's where he can exit if he wants to pretend being whiter-than-white, but a change of venue needs to be something different.

Actually, there's no need to be embarrassed. I had clients and would cut to the chase and would just say that all the lovely girls in China come to HK to make a living and the scene is very active in HK. If he looks you in the eye, that's an indication of interest. If he looks away then you'll have to go to plan B and wait another 30 mins before you slip the subject in again. We're all men after all and if you encounter one of the rare ones with moral obligations, you can give him hints and he will not hold it against you. He may come out and just say that's he's got a good family and loves his wife. Yes. I've had clients like that. I've also once had a Scottish customer that I picked up from the airport and first thing he said to me was "Where's the Pussy". He then told me that in Singapore, my competitor had picked him up in a Rolls Royce with two girls in the back giving him a BBBJ on the way to the hotel. My Singapore competitor obviously got more business from him than I did.
