Out of curiousity... how often do you guys get tested for STDs here in HK?

If so, have you ever caught anything? Any idea how you got it? (eg bareback? Or covered / bad luck? hotel / walk in?)

It would be interesting to see a poll and more statistics on this. With the legal walk-ins, it also would be great to have some kind of official screening (more useful than the visa checks, in my opinion).

Straight up, tho; I don't know how others will react, but if I see a check-mark next to one of the more severe STDs on this poll, I'm done punting for life. It's not worth it.

The only thing I caught was the paying-too-much-bug. Another reason I don't like mainlander or locals. They think I haven't got laid before or something.

Well it depends what you decide to do.

On my side, only massages and hand jobs. A personal choice, the "soft" way I guess.

Never caught anything as risks of getting any STD's that way are very very limited. I got fully tested while back in my country quite recently and had a little very open chat with the Doc: he still had to meet someone infected though a hand job and/or a massage.

I caught something in Vietnam. It was a wake up call.
I used protection but it's really not enough to fully protect you against everything. I was so scared but I learned a lot about every type of bug out there lol.  Most people don't realize you can get herpes for life. I know some say whatever it won't kill you, get over it and move on but psychology it's stressful.

Btw I didn't get herpes i got mollscum contagioosum. Which Is a child disease now turning into a STD. But it's made me stop punting for awhile for sure.

I think the main problem is that most people don’t get a full STD test. These are rather expensive (usually 2500HKD plus, some shops charge even up to 5000 HKD). So the standard tests usually omit certain harder to trace bacteria or STD which are not considered STD in certain countries, regions like UP or GV or MH. Some of these bacteria can cause infections or other nasty things.

In HK i got GV now twice and I can probably trace it back to two BBBJ...

Those who say no either don't punt often or don't know. STDs are rampant in all arenas and those who deny are kidding themselves.  Keep yourself safer by ALWAYS using a condom and get yourself checked regularly (not just when you feel an itch). My Dr. she knows I am active in the game, advises a check up every couple of months, and for the peace of mind... I don't mind. There is little out there to cause massive concern if you are careful and get checked regularly. Be the better man and get tested.

I didn't have symptoms for 6 months. On some you'll never have symptoms until your immune system break's down and you get an outbreak of something.

Below centres offer Free HIV test(s) without the painful urethra swabs, using 2 methods: blood extracted via Rapid (prick finger tip, results in 20-30mins) and/or Conventional (syringe+needle in vein, results in 5-7 days).  Typically, only a positive result with the Rapid method requires a Conventional test to prove the Rapid method’s result as a false positive. Subsequently, test centres will recommend more comprehensive (full) tests at medical clinics with hematologists.

Please note these are NGOs - their primary funding is from the AIDS Trust Fund that may reject their on-going applications for funds. So, kindly donate between $200-$300 (equivalent to cost of a self-test HIV kit) during your visit.

Book a Free Test.  While their site states free tests are targeted at adults aged below 25, notify them of your age and you will donate.

Also, they sell 2 types of government approved HIV self-testing kits online: 1. Finger-prick blood test (HKD $280). | 2. Oral fluid test (HKD $330).
Detailed website instructions below that particular type of self-test kit on how to use the instruments and interpret the results.

Alternatively, buy a self-test kit at the Health Service Centre and use it on-site under their supervision to make sure you are doing things correctly.  Note: as the window periods for testing are 10 days, 28 days and 90 days from the date of exposure, you’ll need to buy at least 3 kits.

so i got tested and got negative results for all the tests.
