Good for you! Remember, the less you borrow, the less interest you pay! It goes a long way for even for a 15 years loan.

In the US, a lot of people got rich quick because of the dot com era (which happened quite some times ago) and they bought a lot of luxury things because they never had so much money before. When the dot com bellied up, they lost everything because they couldn't keep up with the payments due to losing their jobs. To this day, people still haven't learned and foreclosure is still at a very high rate.

My cousin paid cash for his Porsche and his house and didn't have to pay any interest. He still got no problem with living comfortably and just paid for an expensive wedding. Not everybody can do that. But be glad that you don't have to live in a cardboard box in some alley way. All of us want to be rich. Reality is that not everybody is rich like Bill Gate. Does it make you a lesser person? No. Are you less happy because you can't live in a luxury life? No. Happiness is from how you view your life and the surrounding. Just like you don't have to look like Andy Lau to get pretty chics, nor rich like Donald Trump. Money can make life easier. Yet, it can't buy you happiness.

I am not saying that you have to be poor or living in a dump to be happy. You can have all the fancy clothes, Italian sport cars, and a mansion with an array of staff taking care it for you. You can even have a trophy wife and fame. But at the end, what really matters is the feeling between you and other people and how happy you are within yourself. Of course, you can be happy and content and rich. But it may not be true the other way around. Ever wonder why so many rich people are having affair behind their spouse's back? It's common knowledge for rich Mr. so and so or  Mrs. so and so to have pretty actoress/actor as their sex toys.

Didn't Leslie Cheung (the long time famous singer) commit suicide several years ago? You would think he's rich and could get any girls he desired.

I would suggest you to take up some martial arts, probably Aikido. By practicing the art, you can learn a lot on how to live in harmony with yourself and others. Or do some voluntary works and you will see your problems aren't so severe anymore.
