If clean is your thing then I would stick to hotels. This is because you have to pay extra at serviced appartments if you want them to change your sheets and tidy up/vacuum your room.

Plus 20 days is a short time for those serviced appartments because they charge you on a monthly basis (most do).

aaa888 is right.  serviced apts will want you to throw down for a month minimum.  not likely you can beat what you're paying now.

Here is one. It's quite a way from the city but my friend told me it's nice.

http://www.harbour-plaza.com/en/ ... section_id=overview

The brochure said $5900 up.

stay in NT for around $500 USD a month.   I don't even know how long you can stay in HK as a American citizen.  My guess
is 3 months.

How much are the apts in Causeway Bay like Fuji or Hop Yee?

Makes it convenient to the walk-up girls.

Chungking mansions, you walk past the main door away from the holiday inn with chungking mansions on your left. And you should come across a side alley with a bloke selling magazines (some pornos too) between the irish pub and the main door, walk towards and inwards down the magazine shelves.

You will see the mall infront of you with Indian sellers of telephone cards etc. Before you enter chungking mansions shopping arcade you will see to your left a stairway, go up the 3 flights of stairs and you can go no further upwards as you will be on the terrace. Turn left walk along to the first door and go in and follow it round, you should see a microinternet cafe.

To the left you'll see the counter of Taiwan hostel's owner a grey haired woman who can speak ANY asian language including english she is usually asleep as she runs it by herself, a couple of indonesian women who do the cleaning.

Her cheap ones are on this floor (sub $100), the more expensive (when I mean expensive I mean $130 are block D either 15th or 16th floor. The lift to this is near the dry cleaners.

has a $100 key deposit for the upperfloors (the lower floors use RFID keycards) in september 2009 I cheekily asked for a discount for 1 week+ she gave it and it went to $110 a night.

Its basic but not all that bad, you get wifi or you can borrow a network cable (NOT linux friendly network though) toilet and shower + air conditioning not somewhere you'd want to take a WG though. You can ask to borrow towels etc its small but private and dead in the centre of the action, Champs court is 5 minutes away, James S lee 10 minutes, TST mansion just across the road and Jordan/temple street a 10 minute walk away.

All you have to do is to take a trip to macau and you get another 3 months. I am sure you can find suitable things to do in Macau for a day.

I don't mind paying a month rate if its works out cheaper then 20 days at the hotel. We don't mind cleaning, what i mean by clean is just the place is generally clean. Not having paint peeling and cockroaches running around.

An expat colleague stayed there for 6 months. Generally is good but the only problem is no lift. Need to take the stairs and if I am not mistaken it is on the 4th floor.

you cannot fart in hong kong for less than 6k per month.

serviced apartments on the island are 15k min per month.  Move into NT and it gets cheaper.

the local rag had an article on the blue house in wan chai which was something crazy like 20 dollars a night.  but it had no electricity, running water or shit.  they wanted to pull it down but the protesters came out and blocked up wan chai proper.

the blue house remains.  one of the last houses from the susy wong film era.

That is quite a bit out. Whats the transportation link like there?

I know that in Discovery Bay there are buses that run from Sunny Bay MTR station, but they are quite pricey.

Further up to Tung Chung theres ones at ~HK$5000 a month, although next to Tung Chung MTR station, its HK$11.2 a journey into the city (Im referring to MK), quite expensive again if you're planning to travel in and out during the period.
