Did you learn about sex from descriptions in a porn movie catalog?

Are you referring to a bukkake party?

I've been to a few of these when I was in the UK.

Basically, you pay a fee (usually between £100 - £150). The party is held in an appartment and there are often 3 -4 girls with about 12-15 men. It lasts around 4 hours and during this time you are free to do what you like with the girls, fuck them, grope them, have them suck you off or just sit back, watch them get fucked and jerk off.

You also get refreshments, last time I went there was beer and pizzas!!

Anyway they can be quite fun, you get a good choice of girls (some of them were actually amateur UK pornstars!!) but I guess some people may not be comfortable with so many dudes about.

I used to frequent these parties with a friend whenever I was down in London for the weekend:
http://www.gentlemensparties.com/parties.html

Have no clue whether these are available in HK though.

There are Orgy parties in Hong Kong, they're not held very often, but they do exist.

Participants mostly communicate through Chinese forums though, so if you read chinese, discuzz.com might be a good place to start. Happy hunting!

I think you are talking about this website : www.comexxx.com.

It is a valid website in Chinese and English about hosted sex orgies in Hong Kong.  I am always curious about it but have not worked up the guts to join one.

@cbd
its: http://www.discuss.com.hk/ - but this is a public board and I don't read Chinese well; afraid i couldn't do any due diligence.

@ lastyle7
mandarin and cantonese are dialects. The written language is still called chinese and sub-classified into either Traditional or Simplified Chinese.

@doghead
I've seen this site. The things I've heard based on 'a friend of a friend' was that he got in through invitation by one of his shags. He just showed up to a 4-star hotel room one night and they had the party set up.

Dude, written Cantonese is much different from written Mandarin. I read Mandarin without any problem, but the reports on the Chinese side of this forum are almost incomprehensible. There are characters used commonly in Cantonese that don't even exist in Mandarin.

You're right, since Cantonese can often be a mishmash of jargon, when written down using traditional Chinese characters, it can look incomprehensible. Further to this, there are some words native to Cantonese that are specific to Traditional Chinese and does not have a Simplified counterpart.

However, Cantonese is still a dialect and the written language used in Hong Kong is Traditional Chinese. Cantonese can be written down as text, but it is ultimately a dialect with some grammatical deviations. In Hong Kong newspapers, press releases, official business and administrative (read: governmental) documents are written adhering to proper Classical Chinese grammatical rules but are meant for the Cantonese speaking public and can be dictated in Cantonese. Hope this helps any confusion about our little semi-creole dialect.

I found this little tidbit online http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Written_Cantonese:
"Cantonese has the most developed literature of any form of Chinese after Classical Chinese and Mandarin. It is used primarily in Hong Kong and in overseas Chinese communities. It uses characters not found in the Standard Mandarin, and is not easily intelligible to Mandarin speakers."

I learned Chinese in Taiwan, so I don't have any problem with traditional characters. When Cantonese is written as it is spoken, and this seems to be the case with much written Cantonese, even knowing the traditional characters is no help.

If official documents are written according to traditional Chinese usage, then they are no longer Cantonese but Mandarin.

This pin points exactly why my comprehension of written chinese is so poor. I just don't know what the hell I'm looking at sometimes.

About your second point, I wonder if we can get a HK'er to step in. I feel a little too misinformed to know the complete answer.

Update:

QUOTE:
From my MSN conversation with a local friend:
56Kicks: Dude. Question!
Does the traditional chinese used in government documents in HK use the same grammar that they use in China?
Do we use Classical chinese grammar?
Friend:
If it's 標準書面語 (Standard Written Chinese), it's almost the same
but some terms may be different.
The grammar is the same
But a lot of ppl in HK can't write formal Chinese

So apparently, there are some minor differences, but on syntax level, both languages, when written PROPERLY, should be the same.

Traditional Written Chinese is not Mandarin. You have to look at Chinese characters as symbols without an inherent sound.  That sound is placed upon the character by the speaker, the sound can be cantonese, mandarin, shanghainese, another chinese dialect, korean, japanese, vietnamese, etc....You get my point.

Because you speak Mandarin only and don't really have the ear for Cantonese, you would not know that there is something called 'proper' Cantonese.  Very rarely spoken in HK, and spoken mostly by some of the educated elderly in Guangzhou.  Basically it is like hearing mandarin spoken with the cantonese pronunciations.  The only time you may hear 'proper'' cantonese is at a ktv where some of the cantopop's lyrics are written in the same grammatical manner as mandarin.

But you are right when it comes to colloquial cantonese.  It is a bastard version of proper cantonese and it comes with its own written language.  Some words are unique only to Cantonese and when it uses a proper chinese character it may place them in a different location in the sentence because of its cantonese usuage or grammar.  Therefore you would have extreme difficulty reading all the weeklies, pop mags, porno mags, the more local newspapers like Oriental Daily, Apple Daily, etc.  You have a better chance reading something like the economic/business papers, the boring papers, etc.

He was reluctant to drop deets as I didn't know him too well, but non-surprisingly, his response was that it was a bit of a turnoff since he was surrounded by so many dicks. We all agreed that it would have been better if the men to women ratio were reversed.
