Blues Music in HK

Anyone here know of any bars where they play live blues music? And I don't mean punter bars. I'm looking for an established place where I can listen to some good blues and jazz.

Well, here's one suggestion...  http://www.skylarklounge.hk/Skylark_Lounge/Home.html   I went there last weekend.  They had a nice jazz group that played a fair bit of blues as well.  The lounge is fairly small (maybe seating for 60), but the acoustics are quite good.  The music was also not so loud that it was impossible to talk.  FYI, this is the successor to Dinamoe Hum, which is now closed.

You've probably already stumbled across this, but here's a listing of clubs...  http://www.jazz-clubs-worldwide.com/docs/hongkong.htm

Have fun, CGP

Ned Kelly's Last Stand.

Ashley Rd, TST.

Very popular spot, cold beer, good music, fun atmosphere. Also, someone told me there is a Jazz bar in the basement of the Peninsula Hotel but I have not tried that so cant confirm.

Try 48th Street Chicago Blues:

Here's a list of instrumental blues players in Hong Kong:

I would question the B King).  The music really stems from the suffering of the soul by the black folks.  The music really has to come from the soul.  Not sure if you will get the effect from the local Chinese musicians.

All the best to ya.

So...what you're saying is, unless you're black, you don't have the soul to play blues? Sorry to call you out, but that's bullshit. There are many different kinds of suffering, especially in Hong Kong; who are you to say that a chinese person (or any other person, for that matter) can't play the blues well?

^^I agree, that is kinda racist & unwelcoming comment. Reminds me of when i was young and people said chinese people can't play basketball.

Hey come one now... this is not a basketball forum. Besides, the NBA is lame. Lost a lot of popularity in the US now, they will lose US$400M this year. However, this is about the blues and you don't need to be black, white or indifferent... you just have to "feel" the blues.

The Musos at Ned Kelly's in TST are Fillipino and they are great!

I know its not a basketball forum, but its not a music forum too. I just use basketball as a reference to a racist remark.

For a multi billion dollar corporation in a global recession, a small lost of 400 mill (i don't know if that is the figure), its pretty darn good if you ask me

I thought it was a good reference. There are basketball players from all over the world just as there are musicians that can "feel" the blues from anywhere in the world.

As for the NBA, those numbers are league wide numbers. The top teams are doing really well while the bottom teams such as the Nets are struggling with their attendance.
