I've stayed away from bar mongering for a month, but tonight being half-Halloween, I thought it might be interesting to go see if some of the girls got all dressed up. I'm now on the Kowloon side, so decided to try out Hari's and Sticky Fingers for the first time. And wow, I was hugely disappointed.

I've been to Neptune II and Traffik and not much else, but I thought the quality of the girls was way lower. Maybe it was just tonight, but looked like there were some civvies too, actually. Did I just go on a bad night? TonyToro, how would you compare the good and bad of these places? In what way do the experiences differ?

If my experience is not completely skewed, then I'd probably rather go to Wanchai. My concern, though, is that late in the night, if I wanna catch a cab back home, either the driver wouldn't know where I'm talking about (I speak no Cantonese, unfortunately), or he'll refuse to go to Kowloon at all (Hunghom area). Or, that if I wanna bring back a girl, that she would not want to. I mean, fair enough if it's just for a short session, but if it's for the whole night, would it still be an issue?

Tony will obviously have the definitive answer, but here is my experience.  Hari's has way fewer women than the WC bars, but the quality can be quite good.  It's a matter of numbers.  In WC there are a bunch of bars and a bunch of women, but there are also a lot of men.  Hari's has a different vibe.  It's easier to relax and have a conversation.  There are not a lot of other bars nearby so people stay a little longer.  Because there are fewer guys there tend to be fewer women.

I have had women from WC come back with me to my hotel in TST before without a problem.  It was for an overnight though.  Just bring a card from the front desk with the hotel name on it and use a taxi that can go to Kowloon.  It's no big deal.

for good times in wanchai
Neptunes 2: sunday afternoon/earlyevening (civi),sunday/sat/fri evening (wg)
Makati: sat evening / sunday afternoon (never been on a friday) : note that on sat night they have free food which is quite good (i am a cheap arse). Sunday drinks are about 40 dollars (eg vodka and red bull)
109: best place on sunday between 1pm-3pm - after that it dies off and the girls go to laguna. About 65 dollars for vodka and red bull but drinks much stronger than at makati
Laguna: sat/sun after 4pm (civi); it quietens down for a bit around 8pm before becoming a WG bar with some domestic helper freelancers and civis.

On a good night, Hari's will have about 30 - 40 WGs. On a good night, Neptune 2 will have 130.

On a bad night, Hari's will have 3 - 4 WGs and Neptune 2 will have 20 - 30.

If Hari's is quiet, your only nearby option is Sticky Fingers (which recently moved after being closed for some time in it's usual location... it may take a little while to get going again). If Neptune 2 is quiet, Escape, Laguna, Traffik, JBs, Galaxy, Amazonia etc are all within 5 minutes walk.

If you look at the Bar guide in the CHAT section, it is clear that overwhelmingly... Wan Chai is THE place to go for volume and convenience. No question. Wan Chai is almost always busy. Hari's is always busy Friday nights but other nights can be hit or miss based on how busy the hotel is.

So why the hell do I  prefer Hari's Bar???

(1) I like Mongolian, Korean, Japanese and PRC girls. You will always find them in Hari's, plus Russian, occasionally you will find something special like Venezuala, Angola. There are always a few Fils, Indo and Thai floating around but not as many was Wan Chai. You will almost NEVER... probably NEVER find Mongolian, Korean, Japanese girls in Wan Chai.
Therefore... for me at least: ADVANTAGE Hari's.

(2) I like decent music, decent songs, sung by singers who CAN sing, LIVE, in short skirts & high heels. I like a 10 - 15 minute break in the music every hour so I can actually "hear" the person I am talking to... So I can negotiate with a WG without yelling. I dont like bullshit techno "doof doof" music that simply never lets up. Bros yelling at each other to be heard and nodding with that dumb ass "yeh yeh I agree" look on their face when they actually cant hear a thing you're saying gives me the shits!
Therefore... for me at least: ADVANTAGE Hari's.

(3) I like sashimi that tastes great and I know wont make me sick the next day.
Therefore: ADVANTAGE Hari's.

(4) I like to find a chick in a bar, walk to the elevator, go straight up to my room and start f*cking.
Therefore: ADVANTAGE Hari's.

(5) Sometimes I may want to sit down in a nice lounge, watch some quality sport on a big screen TV while I sip on my beer, chat to my friends BUT... never be too far away from the action.
Therefore: ADVANTAGE Hari's.

(6) Because Hari's is a hotel bar, it attracts "regular" Bros who pop in for a drink after work. Even ifI go on my own, there is always someone I know.
Therefore: ADVANTAGE Hari's.

(7) I like to sit back, look around and decide which WG is my style. I prefer to have my dick rubbed after making my selection.
Therefore... for me at least: ADVANTAGE Hari's.

(8) Some of the wait staff at Hari's have worked there for more than 5 years. We have gotten to know each other well and as a result they find a table for me, let me stock up on happy hour price drinks, and treat me a little special. The NEVER try and push me to buy Lady drinks because lady drinks dont exist in Hari's.
Therefore... for me at least: ADVANTAGE Hari's.

Of course everyone has their own opinion, Hari's just fits my style better than the others. That's notto say I dont go to Wan Chai, I do... regularly. It's a fun change of pace.

Never judge ANY bar based on one night.


You will typically find younger and prettier Fils, Thais and Indo girls in Wan Chai and older ones in Hari's so if that's YCOT go to Wan Chai. But if you desire a stunning 23 YO Mongol gal... Forget Wan Chai... Hari's is where you need to be.


As I mention in the CHAT section Bar Guide, Hotel Bars do attract civvies who "stumble" into the action. Friday night at 11pm however, any civvie Gals in Hari's start to feel a little uncomfortable and usually leave.


Depends on the type of girl you want.


If you have your hotel name card with you at all times it wont be a problem late at night. The only issue is some drivers may want you to cover the toll back to HK side.


Once she agrees to your price on an over nighter, she will go with you to Lo Wu if she had to...

TonyToro, what's this about there not being lady drinks at Hari's?
Do you mean that the girls don't get some cut when we buy them drinks, or that we aren't expected to buy them drinks, or what?

girls at Hari's do NOT get a cut of the price if you buy them a drink at Hari's. The drinks aren't cheap (normal for a 4 star+ hotel but not "cheap") but there is no kickback for the WGs.

Happy hour (2 for 1) is from 6 - 9pm.

You hit the mark .... It really depends on what you like. The only wanchai bar i can think of with good variety AND quality is Escape. Sat night has good variety' with some russians who occasionally appear. But the general rule of thumb is for fairer skin beauties go to hari's, for south asian go to wanchai.
I am not a huge fan of neptune's by the way, as the girls sometimes look too jaded and often look like hookers - some have too much make-up. Escape tends to attract girls wearing nicer clothes (eg a backless evening dress) and the quality is sometimes excellent (just like hari's when it's not slow), while makati and laguna get the party girl types, which I love!!!
