My point is your statement reinforces the perception that K is earned by making lots of posts.  

Which, although POSSIBLE, is neither a reflection of where the top ranked posters actually got their K, nor is it a reflection of the ethos of the community.  
Maybe someone should do a study, but I'm guessing the total K awarded by readers is greater than the total K awarded by the system.  For the top ranked posters the ratio is probably up to 100:1.   

I prefer to see the K awarded by the system as a default minimum that sets the ball rolling ... and makes sure even those posts that are missed by the seniors also do get recognition.  

My point is the most accurate and useful answer to the question "How do I get K?" is "You get K by making a contribution that the members appreciate".

In a Utopian society, definitely the K's should be awarded by fellow readers as an appreciation of contributing comments, but in reality, unless a bro is constantly punting in Hong Kong and has mastered the art of asking for photos, most FR's are only generating maybe 10-20 K's. To get to Kinky King status one would have to post over 50 to 100 punts. For witty comments, usually you might get 2-3 K's and honestly, not everyone can always make witty comments.

And I hate to point this out, but you as one of the senior bros around here, have made 3310 posts with 3850 karma. Certainly not at the ratio of 100:1. Sometimes volumes comments are the only way for bros to step up the ladder. There's always going to be four types of user here:

1. Leechers who don't ever post anything
2. FR contributors with pics on HK section that can probably get 100:1 ratio
3. FR contributors w/ or w/o pics on Rest of World or China section that get 10-20k's each FR, and posts voluminously for other K's.
4. Non-FR contributors but voluminous poster.

#3 and #4 seem to be the most common.

i for one prefer a good report with no pictures to a bad report with lots of pictures! reading a good report makes me feel as if im part of the experience lol. its as if im right there in the same room while the bro is shagging the girl.

i also like to read about what happens before and after the shagging. the funny experiences and stuff like that. ive had quite a blast reading through some of the reports in the macau and rest of the world section... all without seeing anything. a picture of course would be nice, but a picture just doesnt hold as much "bang" as a detailed step by step report for me. nothing like getting that "just what i needed!" information that satisfies every question you may or may not be looking for!

Quite so - look at my reporting record, it's been pretty quiet, so I don't qualify as a top poster by a looong chalk.  I'm comfortable with the corollary to my statement: that the majority of my posts fail to excite or entertain anyone

But, even way back when I started and reported frequently, I nonetheless could expect somewhere around 20-30k from each report.  These days, inflation being what it is, it would be more than that.

20-30? I remember feeling lucky getting 10. When I got 20 for a walkup report with pics, I was like ''wow''. We have come a long way since then.

As I have mentioned elsewhere, the hobby has an ebb and flow to it all it's own, a sort of tide coming in, tide going out thing that you need to accept as normal.  

If you didn't understand the tide of the Oceans, you might think all the water is disappearing because there isn't as much water on the beach now as there was this morning.  If it keeps up at that pace, the water will all be gone by morning, right?

Guys get married, they get girlfriends, they get steady dates.   They move on to other jobs in other cities, they travel more, they make a little less money, maybe they are paying for a new flat or car or something.   Maybe they have just fucked every WG they ever wanted to do, got tired of it, and decided to move on.  Maybe they are waiting for their $6000 from the government that isn't coming any time soon.

Changes made to the board are only ever a small part of it.  If guys were doing hotel girls only to gets pics and Ks, then yes, they are very likely to have dropped out because the socialrewards are not there are they might have been in the past.  One or two major contributors have their own reasons for not posting, and to be fair, the hotel girl section before was entirely dominated by one person's posts for one papa's girls, and that wasn't exactly any more informative.   It might have looked good and driven page views, but it wasn't really changing the punting situation.  If anything, at this point I find the reviews in the newbie area way more information and direct, with a sort of innocent joy that is often missed when you get too much in a rutting rut.

I sort of put WGs on the back burner for two reasons.

I'm stuck in the UK as most of my money is made here, I can't seem to make enough money for a decent living in HK. Therefore I am never really there to participate in the scene. Not really there are 6 UK Chinese skydivers, there are about 37 European Chinese skydivers. I could be any one of them.

Also once you get above a certain altitude your brain cannot tell the difference in going any higher. Anything about 250 metres your brain cannot tell the difference between. And all base jumpers are skydivers anyway. When you go to 15000ft it looks exactly the same as 1000ft. Once your out the door the view does not change and you don't get ground rush effect till about 1500ft. By which time you are under canopy anyway.
