Not "daily covid testing" in the Mainland Chinese sense where everyone in the city needs to have a fresh test result for daily life purposes.

Arriving at the airport you'll take a PCR test and they'll give you a paper explaining which days you will need to take another PCR test at a community test centre - should be the second, 4th, and 6th day.  You'll need to take RAT on your own every day for 7 days - but it most likely will not be checked.

People who haven't traveled do not need to test unless required for their work or if they have been hit with a compulsory testing order.

First they eased the situation at the airport (my wife went through in summer 2020-2021-2022...process has been improving steadily) so
get ALL THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION and replies to all your questions there. More difficult after.

Now instead of 3 days (quarantine) + 4 (medical monitoring),
it is 0 + 3...so during those 3 days you have an AMBER code on your LeaveHomeSafe so NO BAR, and other places.
After day 3, if not infected, BLUE vaccination QR code and you go anywhere you want.
Some short term hotels asked for LeaveHomeSafe and BLUE vaccination QR code () some don't ( ).

Before Oct 15, it could even change to 0+0.

Social distancing rules in restaurants and bars are relaxing a bit tomorrow (number per tables,...) but there are still TOTAL NONSENSE stuff.
More should be relaxed further. The pressure from the economy is huge.

The Chief Executive should deliver a speech soon with more good news (Regina IP spoiler alert)
...maybe even get rid of Prof LO, secretary for Health, who really lacks common sense as well as ANY political sense.


Walk-Up / 141: No problem. They are operating normally ...while in Jan-Feb-March some put in place special protocols
(for the sake of all, them and regular clients)

As HKIA re-opens female "tourists" are coming back...especially ahead of Rugby 7s (Nov)
but I think Wanchai bars  (and the catering industry in general) are damaged beyond repair (self-inflected for part of it).

After pcr test on day 0 landing at airport, do they give you RAT test to take home? Or u suppose to go out and buy em yourself.

Arrived into HK on the 29th. PCR required at airport but total process out the gate for landing with the test was 30 minutes. This is considered Day 0. I have to submit myself to PCR testing on Oct 1,3,5 and on all days including the days I do PCR I have to do a rat test. I heard they were previously provided but I did not get any so luckily I had a bunch from a family member. RAT tests complete after 7 days after arrivals.

You must have a 24h negative rat to enter bars and many girl ask for it as well (some bars won't ask you to not lose business and the odd to have a police spot check is very low, but if really have you get fine $5000 on spot)

So just do a test every day and play safe

Flying over tomorrow for 9 days. For the first 3 days of amber pass, does anyone know if I can visit walk-ups or have girls visit my hotel? Rules state I can't enter other hotels but not clear on visitors to mine, tried emailing the hotel (99 bonham) but didn't get a reply.

Walk-Up: Zero problem.
During the worst of Omicron in Feb-March 2022, some worked offline, with regular clients only and 24H bookings...and strict health protocols,
like taking RAT test when they became common.
That was appreciated.
In some building, they were still operating normally with walk-in clients...I was not excited about it and passed.
Now it's NORMAL business. No worry.


Girls visiting your hotel should be NO problem....as if needed, they should have a BLUE Vaccination QR Code.

In Sept, I went to a Wanchai hotel photoshoot) with a lady:
They needed me to use LeaveHomeSafe to scan THEIR QR Code (found 1 Thai massage place that asked this too. Weird)
and to scan my BLUE Vaccination Record QR Code....which was no problem with my setup....but that would be a no for you.

But most short time hotels DON'T ask me anything when I take a room, just pay cash, no name.
In one hotel were there was a "nest" of ladies from a country north of China ...I was able to walk-up DIRECTLY to their rooms
(they were Amber Code then...so no house cleaning ~ chaos)  without anybody asking me anything at all.

You can go to bars at MIDNIGHT (after updating LHS) on Day 3 (landing is Day 0) as your Vaccination Record QR Code turns BLUE,
but in the 24H before, you need to do a RAT test (you buy them at 7/11) , write name+date+time, take a picture of it and show it to the bar / restaurant you go to.


The pressure to relax some of those ....PERFECTLY INCONSISTENT (in 2020-2021, rules were making sense) rules is increasing big time....
but some in the government have REAL FACE ISSUES
and some of those rules are tied to Cap599 which requires Legco approval. Cumbersome.


In short, I don't see big headaches for you, with plenty of punting options.
