I have a phone that I have been using before in Hong Kong and Europe. Its over 4 years old. It currently has Windows Mobile 5.0 and I want to upgrade it to 6.0.  I talked with ATT and they told me it can't be done. I was told by someone else it can, but it was a hack. He said I could do it myself. Just download / load the software and it takes 20 minutes.

Main reason why I want to upgrade, when receiving text messages in Mobile 5.0 in Chinese, the message are scrambled. When forwarding the text messages to another phone, the messages are fine and still readable. I also might want to load some software in the future.

I am looking for a store in Hong Kong that can do it. Please include telephone and address if possible.

1. Backup my data if possible
2. Upgrade to Mobile 6.0
3. Restore some of the old data like my address phone and notes.

Why not upgrade your phone to a newer phone with the latest windows mobile version and then transfer your data to the phone?

The phone specialist retail mall - Sin Tat on Argyle Street in Mong Kok - should sort out your request.

For getting a new phone, maybe in a year or two, I might get a discontinued Iphone 4/5 or the Droid. I also don't need a data plan for the Internet now. It's 15 to 30 USD a month. If I happen lose my current phone or it breaks, it might be sooner. It can be also be some new feature I want in a phone I want to get a new phone. A phone that fires a DEATH RAY to kill someone.    

In North American getting cell phones that are 1 to 2 years older, are extremely cheap.  In fact some are free or heavily discounted with a 2 yr contract.  

The Iphone 3GS is only 100 to 150 USD now. About a year ago, it was 200 and 300USD. The 3G was 600 USD when it came out in 2007. When the new Iphone 4 comes out in full production, I believe the price for the 3GS will be even cheaper. The upgrades will never end. In 1 year, I bet there is going to be a Iphone 5 with more features.    So, I don't need a new phone yet but it looks like in a year or two.


Any "Cell Phone Store" places with names and telephone numbers ?

Sin Tat is located at 83 Argyle Street. Exit D2 at the Mong Kok MTR station is a shopping mall.

It's a huge cell phone mall. I need a store to call.
