Holiday Inn Golden Mile TST

Has anyone stayed at this hotel?

It is reasonably cheap and close to the action and with internet for 141 viewing.

Do they have system where you need room key for lift?

I would naturally assume it is WG friendly?

Anything that would make it not a decent place to stay?

Rack rate starts at around $1,800 however you can get the standard room for about $1000 by shopping around on the net and talking to your travel agent.

Hotel prices have gone through the roof recently ... usually Christmas is the low season here but
things have picked up so much that most hotels (2-5 star inclusive) have more then 90% occupancy !!!
So don't expact to pick up any 'deals' from now until Chinese New Year !

Twiceaweek is spot on, last night I went on Agoda to look for a hotel during x mas, or western new years and all the prices have doubled and or tripled to what I normally pay.  Also the selection of avail hotels have gone to about half of whats normally available.

I paid $1100 first week December, when I checked in occupancy was 85% but during my stay it increased to 100%. Also, while I was there staff told me at a certain point they only had 5 rooms available and they increased the price on them to $3500. That would suggest Twice is spot on with his comments.

Normally though, the Holiday Inn GM is on most discount web sites so depends when you plan your trip. I would never say it's "cheap" though... although just after SARS I was getting $450/night... those were the days...

even my favourite hourly has been full the last 3 times I called them

... and as a result ended up taking an absolute sweetie to a run-down second-rate place ... fortunately she was cool about it ...

You mean you book in advance ?
Usually I just go there and if there are no rooms I just wait, I almost always get a room within 10 mins - unless the motel is small and have only a few rooms
That's why I go to Victoria as each of their motels have more then 40 rooms

Absolutely - until this month I've been just walking up and never had to wait more than a couple of minutes - but last week the staff told me to phone ahead since they're so busy just now.

Victoria still has space though.

BTW which of Victoria's hotels in Kowloon is the best quality?  Any that are close to as good as Tin Hau?
