If,

1. I got interested in an HG, called the papasan/mamasan, gave me the hotel and room number and went there but when the girl opens the door, she is not the one in the DB picture or she looks a lot different and I want to abort the deal.

2. I got to the building/apartment of the desired WG, ring some door bells but when the girl open the door, same as above.

For HG and WG, can I just say "thanks but sorry" or simple sway my head sideways and leave without paying anything?

Thanks Bro. surely very helpful. I just noticed that most of the discussions in the previous report dealt more on WGs, I hope to hear some more tips when the dealings turn to HGs.

i guess that most newbies won't turndown the first B&S.

i didn't ;) i was lucky though with a pretty girl. but you really have to tell yourself before you go.
that if you don't get the girl you asked for, that you will refuse her.
tell the agent on the phone too. just say: i'm sorry and call back the agent.

The HG will expect you to say "OK" to her, so she can call back her boss and start the clock. You can just shake your head and say "Not OK". They won't take it hard, and are used to it.

You can just walk away after saying it, but the girl may ask you to wait in the corridor or sit on the bed while she calls back. The agent may then want to speak to you on her phone, and try to get you to take a look at some other girl he has currently free at another room. Or arrange for more girls to come show themselves in that room. It's up to you to agree or not, you can just say no thanks and walk away. Same if you don't like any of the other girls on offer.

I'm too polite and it took me a long time to be able to say to girls that they are not ok, and start turning down the more Photoshopped or plain B&S ones. Correct way for you will be to only agree to pay to a girl that you are happy to pay.

That's great advice. I also was unable to say no on my first HG which was a bait and switch and I regretted it afterwards as the experience and service was horrible. That made it a triple whammy

1) The girl wasn't the one I wanted
2) She wasn't a substitute that I was attracted to
3) It still cost $800 so it felt like a ripoff

I've learned my lesson from the experience and next time if I'm not happy with the pickings, I will vote with my feet and walk away

You are correct.  It happened to me; more than once.

Is it acceptable in HK or China to tell the booker or papasan, 'Send the girl in the photo, not someone else ?'

I have done this in the states and they are moderately honest about it.

You can say that, but from what I've heard from other bros, they'll still try to B&S you if you're not a regular.
