HK apartments

There's been several people wanting to know how much flats, or apartments are in HK. For those of you who live in HK, please respond to this and let us know where to find one that is reasonable. I am actually also trying to look for a place in HK possibly for one or two months depending on how cheap it is. I want a studio or small apartment with internet access. I think Finn and several other members also are interested. Thanks

i somehow already did my homework...
cityloft.com.hk   studiostudio.com.hk
these are the cheaper serv. appartmetns
then you have thev.com.hk   gardeneast.com.hk
most of them are listed here: http://servicedapartment.com.hk/

i looked up for renting a flat, but since im not sure wether if i can stay 2 months, and since most contracts are for at least 6 momths... think  hotel and service app. are the only option

usually I just get a hostel or guesthouse. It's pretty clean and cheap. I stay for about one week and go to China, stay for a week and go to Macau. So I dont tend to stay that often but this time might be different. I'll see if I want to stay in HK if I can get a cheap place, then I'll stay here and use HK as my base. Otherswise I will have to use SZ as my base

From the good old USA. Part business, part vacation all mixed in. Seems like a lot of people from here are gonna be in HK during Feb-March. Been reading tons of threads and seems like at least 10 are going to be in HK around that time. maybe we should arrange a gathering

Harbourfront Horizon Suite hotel in Hung Hom might be quite good since its in the TST area and on the harbourfront so that you can get to HK island easily.

http://housing.justlanded.com/en ... arbourfront-Horizon

As for the hotline i think you can book it via the Ma On Shan branch (miles away in NT btw)

The above are serviced appartments. But in my opinion i would go full on and hire out a normal hotel, because you can often negotiate a deal if you're staying for more than 2 weeks.

are you from HK? I've talked to one hotel and they wouldnt budge on the pricing. I saw one studio around TST for one month rental for $3000HKD. Not sure how small or nice it is but that's the price range I'm looking for between $3K-$5K

You can always go stay in the Chungking Mansions on Nathan Road for about $100 a night or so, then run across the street to the cybercafe on Lock Road that charges HKD8.00 per hour.

Or you can rent a short term room just like the ones that were in the upper floors of the building that collapsed in To Kwa Wan.  Those rooms with shared bath are about $2500-3500 a month.  Then go to Starbucks, Pacific Coffee, or other coffee shops for wifi.

Ive lived in HK before. Also stayed at the Ma On Shan serviced appartment before renting out a flat for HK$9000 a month at Tsing Yi.

HK$3000 isn't a lot of money, and you're talking low grade/old buildings. Since land is scarce in HK, you get what you pay for imo.

Finn, man, have you seen the city loft and studio studio places?  Those places are pretty run-down.  I recommend you don't go for those.  You guys can also check out gohome.com.hk.  Most places aren't likely to accept a lease of just 1-2 mths though.  You def need serviced apt or hotel for that.

Ive tried out estate agencies and they sometimes have 1-2month lease contracts for those having their home decorated etc.

However, the tenant needs a Hong Kong ID and income proof. This varies with the landlord though, some can let you get away with no income proof if you pay it all at once upfront. But theres been so many cases that the tenant refuses to leave while not paying rent (when a rental contract is not in place).

Taiwan hostel Block A 3f is the office, has a taiwanese woman charges $130 a night for a room with no view, en-suite free wifi.

$150 gets you a room with a view $160 gets you a bigger room with a view. It does smell iffy though, it is however clean as they change the sheets daily

If you want to go cheaper you can have taiwan hostels dorms which are $70 a night but not recommended, shared showers etc.

Causeway bay also has a hostel which I stayed in because it was late and I stayed at Wanchai till late drinking, it was $6 (US) a night free wifi.

Life is short very...

I'd heard stories about that, but didn't think it was true.  Just doesn't seem to be a good situation to be putting yourself in

Proper serviced apts that are suitable for your wife and child as well will likely go in the HK$20,000+ range, though you may be able to find something in the HK$15-20k range (Manhattan Heights in Kennedy Town is one example).  Places like W Studio, city loft and studio studio are all the same company now from what I understand, and, like anything else in this city, @ HK$5-6k is pretty much a joke.

I've seen some of the V's locations and units.  Those are pretty good.  Treasure View in Sheung Wan is decent as well.  There are some places like Kush that are really nice, but those are prob HK$30,000+.  What's your budget?  You can try negotiating with them, but they'll only come down if you're staying for a longer term.

my budget is pretty much is 10k or below range. Going to be in HK for only 20 days. Currently booked into the Evergreen Hotel in Yau Ma Tei which is costing 11.5k for the 20days. Trying to see if i can lower the cost a little. My only real requirement is clean and has 2 beds.
