YouthAgainst, you did the right thing.
With her display of attitude at the outset, things
wouldn't likely have improved if you had acquiesced.
Why did she do it? Maybe . . .
(1) A previous customer did a runner on her
(does this ever happen? I know times are hard,
but really!)
(2) She was a substitute (reluctance to give her
name supports this) from out of town (continent?)
and didn't know how things work here.
(3) Her skills sucked and she knew there was
zero chance of a tip, so what the hell.
(4) She was conflicted about what she was
doing and needed to have the moolah in her
hot little hands to make her feel OK about it.
In any case, I agree with ML she likely
shouldn't be in the business, or any service
business at all.
