Writing this from the lounge in SIN while waiting for my next flight. Took the opportunity of a 6-hour layover in SIN to take a cab to Geyland and sample the wares again. I have posted about "dining locally" in prior posts but this time given the short stopover, decided to just hit up a sure thing with one of the local houses with Viet/Thai/Chinese women.

Wheels down just before 3pm ... cleared immigration within 20 mins and got to the cab line. About a 5 min wait for 1 and asked to be dropped at Geylang Lor 20 to start my walking tour. About 345pm I was dropped off a little pass that and ended up at the entrance of Lorong 18 instead. Whoa ... heads up, something is going on here. First off, I noticed a bevy of clearly marked police cars (like 3 of them) parked right down one side of the road. Hmm, what could be going on. Took me a little by surprise. But this is a 100% legit brothel zone so no reason unless just to flex police presence? Regardless, I decided to skip that avenue and double back and walk down Lorong 20 instead.

Observation and update. Something seems to have changed over the past months in Geylang. Cannot quite put a finger on it (and if others could chime in to share). First thing I noticed is that all the houses are "dark". All the bright led lights that used to indicate the house numbers as well as when each house was open for business are now no longer there. They are all still hanging on the walls but switched off. Giving the impression that they were all closed for business! Took me sticking my head into the first few houses to realize that they were all open for business but "no more lights"! I tried asking why this was the reason but could not get a clear response. See attached sample pic from google maps ... see where all the bright led lights used to be (circled), now they are all no longer lit. Used to be you can tell when each house was open by if the lights were lit. Now much harder. I initially thought all the houses were closed today, especially after the police presence in the next alley!

Regardless, after about 10 mins of wandering around, I ended up in Lorong 16 house #49. A thai house. The fishtank area had about 6 ladies all dolled up. Selected #11 because she looked to have the nicest body type (slim petite) which was MCOT. Paid my $60 to the counter and a 30 min countdown started. Prior visits to Geyland were pretty transactional so never thought of it. This was likely my first visit where I would have loved to spend the full hour with the girl. Who knows if she will still be there my next transit swing thru SIN but might be worth a repeat.

Just stopped by SIN again and tried to go to Geyland. Unfortunately learnt another lesson ... it is not open in the morning. Nothing is open in the morning apparently! Noon and after ... as a helpful local pointed out to me after watching me wander around aimlessly for 5 mins!
