[Taiwan] scams
If you ever get in this situation be smart and don’t let them trick you.
There are girls using Line or other internet applications that claim to be part-time WG but actually just want your money no providing any service. How does it work?
When you find a “WG” in forums, apps, etc. with a bunch of clear photos, sometimes with a link to her photo album be careful. They claim to be students and offer better deals than what you see around, such as 3K(NT) for 2 hours in her place.
If you agree she will give you an address or location, when you get there she will ask for your mobile number and then her “pimp” will call you from an online number (looks like a land line number but you can’t call back because it is just a virtual number).
He will say that the girl is scare of police so you have to buy a points-card (like those for games or international calls) in the nearest convenient store (7-11, Family-mart) and give him the password, just to confirm that you actually bought it, he will say that the girl will show up only after you do so and try to convince you that it is the normal way in Taiwan, but all is a lie.
If you buy the card and give them the password you can be sure that nobody will come to find you, instead they will use the password to clean the money from the card and you will lose your money, time and mood.
If you refuse to buy the card or give them the password the pimp will threaten you, saying that he is mafia and will find you. Don’t worry, nobody will show up but anyway it will ruin your mongering plans.
My advice is to avoid these kinds of girls. If they ask you to buy “points-cards” don’t waste your time, it is a scam. | |
